Well guys, were finally leaving.. I'm sitting here the night before we leave at 4:30 in the morning. We've closed on the trailer and finally picking it up from Bates RV in Tampa tomorrow. Towing a 40 foot trailer is going to be a challenge, but Kirby used to be a truck driver so he should learn quickly, I on the otherhand make take a while. We've packed the new (2006) Ford F-350 to pull the trailer, we've bought the trailer hitches, etc. and are picking it up at about 9 AM on Friday May 2nd. Our first trip? a parking lot to practice with, turning, backing up, so when we arrive at Sawmill Campground an hour later hopefully not look too stupid. Were staying at Sawmill for just a few days, then were back to Fort Lauderdale. Were going to be back in forth from Sawmill and Fort Lauderdale for the month of May, then off to Lumberjacks in GA sometime in June. Well... we picked up our trailer at Bates RV and it wasn't ready. I must say the service there isn't that great. It was supposed to be cleaned and ready for us to go.... three hours later we pulled out. Oh well. We were pretty nervous pulling the trailer for the first time, but Kirby did great. Once we arrived at Sawmill Campground, we checked in and the guys there were great. Mike at the desk was the best! It took us a while to pull the trailer back into the spot, but the walkie talkies helped out a great deal. Back and forth, but got it where we were happy with it anyway. Then opening up the trailer, 4 slide outs and there electric, so thats great... just hit a button. The refrigerator needed to be stood up since it was laying down for travel, opening the box, etc.. we found out that there was not an ice maker that was supposed to be there (we ordered it)... how we supposed to make drinks now??? LOL. Again, Oh-well.... then we found out that the hot water heater didn't work at all... on gas or electric and supposedly they are supposed to check the trailer out twice at Hy-Line and then 1 more time at Bates RV. After several calls to Bates RV they couldn't send out anybody until Monday. We tried a local RV mobile person, but they didn't know that unit - supposedly a new model. Again, oh-well... we either take cold showers or use the camp showers which can be fun at times. After we both cooled down so to speak, we made the best of it, but spent most of the time on the phone with either Bates RV, Hy-Line trailers and even Frank Bates (the owner). Looks like no hot water until Monday.

We did have a great time at Sawmill Campground, but could have been better if we didn't spend so much time trying to get the hot water heater fixed, which took up a lot of time on Saturday and Sunday. Monday, Bates RV sent the tech out to Sawmill and got most everything fixed, except for about 6 items left on our list. We had to leave on Tuesday and were going back up to Sawmill the first week of June sometime and will get the rest of the stuff fixed then. We stored the trailer at Sawmill for the month.

Thanks to Doug at the pool bar for a great time and great food and drink, we ended up trying new things at the bar... looking things up on the net and trying a new drink... had a great time around the pool and in the woods. Woof!

We will be back up to Sawmill the 1st week of June... then off to Lumberjacks in GA.
